"Thank you so much for your analysis and your very prompt work! From my own research, I had thought 1870s and from what I know of the family history, I think you hit it right on the button. You added the info I just could not find on my own about dating the cross and the mantilla! Thank you for comparing the photos, also, because some of my cousins did not see a resemblance between the two photos, while I did. It is good to have an outsider take a look...Maureen’s fees are very reasonable and her services are worth their cost." Deborah Large Fox

Ask the Photo Detective
Do you have a burning question about photos? Whether you’re wondering how to organize your digital pictures or just need to know what the heck a “daguerreotype” is, the Photo Detective is here to help.
Submit your photo-related question (it’s free!) and see if Photo Detective Maureen Taylor can shed some light on the answer.
Jamie Asks: I just discovered some undeveloped film from the 1960s. Can I have prints made anywhere or should I discard it?
The Photo Detective Answers:Don’t throw it away until you contact the Rocky Mountain Film Laboratory. Their website is www.rockymountainfilm.com. They specialize in developing older still and moving picture film. Since they batch process film rather than develop it a roll at a time, it can take a while to receive your pictures. Consult their website for more information. That roll of film can be a family history treasure!
